 Volunteer: Cheer On Our Runners!
Help us spread the HI-USA message to the Los Angeles community while experiencing the team spirit and positive energy that comes with supporting an excellent cause! Each year, the Los Angeles Council of HI-USA sets up a cheering section along the LA Marathon route. We provide complimentary drinks and snacks, and all of our volunteers are entered into a drawing to win great door prizes. This is a great opportunity for those looking to get involved within the local community, and to have a great time at a great event!
 Opportunity Drawing
To help encourage fundraising for the LA Marathon, The Los Angeles Council conducts an Opportunity Drawing with great prizes. The Grand Prize for our 2010 Opportunity Drawing is Two First Class 15-Day Eurail Global FlexiPasses. Other prizes include a complete programming package from DIRECTV, a Lifetime HI-USA Membership, passes to local landmarks, gift certificates to local restaurants and theatres, and more! A complete prize list can be viewed by clicking the link below. Fundraising is not limited to athletes; anyone can raise money and enter the Drawing!  Still Time to Run or Walk! If you are interested in running or walking either the Marathon (Sunday, March 21) or the 5K at Dodger Stadium (March 20), there is still time to register with HI-USA. Call our office or visit our website for information about how to register and have your fee reimbursed. HI Travel Grant
Deadline to Apply: March 15
The Los Angeles Council of HI-USA presents an annual Travel Grant in the amount of $1,000 to an individual who is just beginning his/her travel experiences in life. It is the goal of the LA Council to encourage and promote the pursuit of world exploration and experiential learning through this grant. The applicant's abilities to learn from his/her unique real-world experiences and to share these experiences with HI-USA members upon returning from the trip play a large part in the selection process. Spirit of Adventure Award 
The 2010 Spirit of Adventure Award will be presented at the Annual Members Meeting on June 6. This honorary award recognizes an individual (or individuals), regardless of age, who, through his or her experiences, has demonstrated outstanding enthusiasm and curiosity while traveling abroad. The Los Angeles Council is currently accepting nominations. Please see our website for more information. |
