Los Angeles Marathon Pledge Drive

We are proud to be one of the nonprofit organizations selected to participate in the Official Charities Program of The 2010 Los Angeles Marathon. This year’s event will take place on March 21st, with a special 5K event the day before at Dodger Stadium. Since 1995, we have participated in this annual event to help support our educational youth programs. Our 2010 goal is to raise $10,000. All donations are tax-deductible, and your generosity supports the education of local children by enabling the LA Council to provide such programs as Discover Your World and Cultural Kitchen, as well as our Clean Water Program and Marine Science Program in partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District. It is through these programs that we are able to fulfill the HI-USA mission, “To help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and its people through hostelling.”

In return for your support, we will be holding an Opportunity Drawing featuring some amazing prizes. To participate in the Opportunity Drawing, simply collect pledges or make a pledge yourself. For every $10 donated, a ticket is given to both the pledge-raiser and the pledge-donor (unless they are the same person, in which case, only one ticket will be issued). Rail Europe has donated a pair of First Class 15-Day Eurail Global FlexiPasses, valued at over $2000, as the Grand Prize. Other prizes include a year of DIRECTV Service with System and one year of free programming, an HI Life Membership, gift certificates to great restaurants, tickets to amusement parks, and more.
