Check out the 2012 Opportunity Drawing- As in previous years, the Los Angeles Council of HI-USA will hold an Opporuntiy Drawing in conjunction with the LA Marathon events. The Grand Prize for the 2012 Opportunity Drawing is two 15-day Eurail Global Passes, courtesy of RailEurope (valued at over $2,500).
- Additional prizes for the Opportunity Drawing include donations from DIRECTV, ESCAPE Campervans, HI-USA, Geffen Playhouse, Pala Casino Spa & Resort, and Universal Studios. There are currently over 30 prize donors in total, including restaurant certificates, museum tickets, gift cards, and more! Additional prizes are being added every week:

Now Accepting Applications for the Annual HI-Travel Grant- The Los Angeles Council of Hostelling International USA presents an annual Travel Grant in the amount of $1,000 to an individual who is just beginning his or her travel experiences in life. If you are between the ages of 17 and 26, and live within the greater Los Angeles area, HI-USA can help make your travel dreams come true!

Kick off the holidays and join the Los Angeles Council of Hostelling International USA for a drink (or three) in support of our LA Marathon Team!
Could there be an easier and more fun way to support one of your favorite organizations? On Thursday, October 20th, Team Hostelling International will be gathering at West 4th & Jane from 6:00 pm to 2:00 am for drinks, food, and Connect Four. 20% of your tab will be donated to HI-USA to help our LA Marathon Team raise funds in support of our cultural education programs. The more you drink (and eat), the more you help fundraise!
Come for 30 minutes, join us for 2 hours, or stay the whole night. Bring your friends and don’t miss out! Extended happy hour from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm so you don’t have to rush from work.

From Los Angeles to China: An Art Show

- Join us at HI-Santa Monica for an afternoon of art and travel on Saturday, October 15th from 3:00-5:00 pm. Our 2010 Travel Grant recipient, Stephanie Sherwood, will be displaying artwork configured during her stay at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in China.

2011 Spirit of Adventure Award Recipient: Sammy Davis
- Travel and adventure are passions for Sammy Davis of Ventura, CA. Despite his young age—only nineteen—Sammy travels in the culturally conscious manner that can take some travelers years to realize. One month after his graduation from Villanova Prep School in Ojai, CA, Sammy boarded a container ship in Long Beach that was bound for Busan, Korea. For the next six months, Sammy explored and lived in Korea, China, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Continue reading about Sammy Davis here...

Announcing the 2011 Travel Grant Winner: Bryan Bujarski!
- Bryan will be studying Spanish and Latin American Studies in Buenos Aires, Argentina in the Fall of 2011. He will then travel to Patagonia, Chile, Brazil, and Bolivia. Upon arriving in Bolivia, Bryan plans to volunteer with a Fire Rescue Team. More info on Bryan's trip will be posted soon.
